TUESDAY 6 MAY 1969
126th day - 239 days to come
Barbara Francis called. She'll push them about getting out my advance.
I asked her what she thought of the reviews, whether they gave the
flavor of the game. She said they were just right.
Called Felicia. She still hasn't heard from Ed.
She had another letter from Bryce Russell. Don't count on AMT for games.
Mr. Cass of Franklin Simon is coming tomorrow with his two word GAMES.
The game DYNAMITE came from the Canadian inventor.
Saw Michelle. She'd like to have a N.Y.G.A. meeting anytime we arrange it.
Made reproductions of the newspaper article Lech sent me "Games of
the Forefathers", one for Rimsky and one to give to my father to translate.
The game BEHIND THE 8-BALL came from S. & R. together with aletter
of apology from Angelo Longo.
Felicia called BB at home and I called her from the office. She
said that she would be very happy to have me come tomorrow
when Mr. Cass comes.
She is quite worried about what Will Erickson wants to see
her about on May 20th. He told her it was quite important but wouldn't
give her any hints.
Found a book HOME MADE GAMES in the basement, which I once
bought for Dale, and added it to my collection - even tho it has
very little in it.
(cont. from 5/7)[5/19]
Tom told me about an art teacher, Paul Gruen, who
quit to go into partnership with two other men in producing
educational toys and games. The others gave him the
business. Tom introduced him to Hank Simmons who gave
him a $1,200 a month retainer, against royalties to develope
games for Parker. Starting in September he came
up with about six, of which Parker just gave him contracts
for 3. One is a strategy game, using a three
dimensional board with series of steps (I gathered from
his description but am not sure about it.).
Hank was so happy with his work that he will probably
give him the retainer plus royalties. One thing he did
was fix up a Marvin Glass item they bought and then found
was no good. (This is all confidential.) [See 7/2 for more on Tom.]
At 3M (further) Will said it would be O.K. to send my
comments on DIGIT at the beginning of next week. They
will just be getting to it.
