TUESDAY (29) APRIL 1969
1969 119th day - 246 days to come
Thinking of ideas for BINARY DATA. Use a set of 64 cards with 6
slots. Can be played with some kind of NIM type objective, like
forcing an opponent to end up with one on two prechosen numbers. Also
dice can be used to choose a notch; also another die with "on" and
"off" which tells whether the player gets the cards on the needle or
those remaining.
Stan Harris over. Brought me the board and the art work for
SNAFU. He took the board for TAM-BIT. He also brought me A TO Z to evaluate.
Looked interesting at first but was really nothing, and rules
were a little unclear. He said that the gal who was sending all the games
(a Cuban refugee) has another one. He'll send it to my office by messenger.
He and Lou Wechsel definitely want my name, with some statement about
me on the boxes.
(cont. from 4/30) [5/21]
( Sheet filed in 1969 Ad Clips)
Called Claude to tell him that I saw his puzzles in several places
at the show. Date to go there Friday,
Rcd. a letter from Haar Hoolim. Had a game REDUCTION. Also
said I was in Martin Gardner's April column.
Tried to call Chris Wagner. Phone disconnected. Called Jim
Dunnigan after 12, and asked about Chris. The distribution
thru A.H. flopped and some ether things. Chris was so
depressed, and in money troubles that he wanted to drop everything.
Jim convinced him to continue STRATEGY & TACTICS and
to drop the other PAC activities. Jim will give the royalties
from his A.H. game LUFTWAFFE to Chris for the magazine.
I said that I certainly didn't want to be paid for my column.
Jim will be here for supper next Thursday and will
try to get Chris to come down.
Jim will bring me information on, or copies of, the following games: LUFTWAFFE, ITALY, MARRIAGE, CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, and ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II
(which A.H. is interested in.)
