SATURDAY 12 APRIL
1969 102nd day - 263 days to come
Working on reviews of Battle Games.
In New Jersey stopped at a shopping center. Woolco had the 3M games
& CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN. Also saw KERPLUNK (Ideal) A number
of thin rods are placed at random thru the upper part of a cylender.
Then players in turn turn the cylender so that a chute lines up with
their compartment; then they remove a rod and any marbles that fall
go into their compartment and count against them.
Saw MIND OVER MATTER (Ideal). One player chooses a number card
and another player moves his hand over a layout of squares
with numbers in them. If he stops on the right number, he moves 3
spacs. If in a square next to the right number, 2 spaces. Other-
wise, 1 space. (Rough idea.)
At J.C. Penny's saw a FOCUS set, with the instructions mis-
sing. Also saw SOCK IT TO ME (Continental Promotions, Inc.). Some plastic
"socks" with cards in them. Players draw cards and have to do the
stunt on it. With a "sock it to me" card the master of ceremonies can
pick the stunt the other must do. (Rough idea - but not really a game.)
Rcd. a short letter from Lech. He told me to get a German
book [crossed out] EUGEN OKERS SPIELWIESE, DAS BUCH DER SPIELE.
Eugen Oker has a weekly column on games and this is a compilation
of 5 years of the column. He reviews new games and liked ACQUIRE.
Lech said he hadn't heard from me, so I wrote him a postal
letter telling him that I sent him a long letter on 3/29 and if
he doesn't get it soon to let me know.
Felicia called. Collier's article on games was in today's Times.
Not a word about either of us.
