THURSDAY 3 APRIL
Maundy Thursday
First Day of Passover--Pesach 1969 93rd day - 272 days to come
Claude called. Saw THE ADVERTISING GAME for $2. I have it.
Called Oxford University Press. They have no word on a new book
by Bell. May have been done in England, in which case it will
be several months before it comes here.
Called Collier twice, getting him the second time. He read me
the article. Lot about me including the fact that I
hope to live on my royalty from games and book. Should
be in by Monday at the latest.
To Pantheon. Met with David, the art director and Shiela,
who is doing the jacket. Saw her first attempt and showed
her my ideas. She'll incorporate some of mine in her next
trial. Got a sample of the printing of the book.
Gave Barbara the negative of my picture.
Showed her the letters of permission I have and she doesn't
think they will do. Couldn't get them copied so I'll
make copies and bring them next Wednesday and she'll
check with legal dept. I still have to get a form from
her for friends in city to sign.
Went over corrections I brought and those the copy edi-
tor found. Couldn't agree on introduction to Jim Dunnigan
and left it for next Wednesday.
The April 15th deadline is for all books due for fall
publication and I can't go more than 1 or 2 days over.
Jim Dunnigan here for supper. Brought me Phil Orbanes' CAR*TEL and
his, Jim's, game of LUFTWAFFE which will be A.H.'s battle game for
1970; he brought a hand made model. Also a handmade model of
BATTLE OF BRITAIN II which probably will replace BATTLE OF BRITAIN in the
Renwal line.
We went over the games in the A.H. line quickly for difficulty, etc.
Told him that a company with a big name is copying the 3M pack-
aging. He will tell Phil about it.
He will have the inventor send me a copy of HANNIBAL.
