TUESDAY 1 APRIL 1969
Tuesday in Holy Week
91st day - 274 days to come
To Hasbro. Mr. Heilweil turned me over to a young fellow
{Roger Elson
{OR 5-3467
who gave me a copy of WHODUNIT and the rules for THE WORLD OF WALL STREET, VEGAS, RHYME TIME, MOB STRATEGY,
INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS, & GAME OF THE WEEK. These are
out & out imitation of the 3M packaging. Two other games are
MATING GAME, and PRO PLAYOFF. I told Roger that I had done
two 3M games and that these would probably hurt me. He said that
the distribution is different, would sell for about 5 in
discount outlets, Had a good relationship with him and he suggested
that I submit games to them. The man to contact is:
Don Levine - V.P
966-5663
He is in Rhode Island but he comes to N.Y. frequently, The
telephone is a local call. The games are all tied in with
NBC which is featured on the boxes much larger than Hasbro.
Roger also showed e CATCH A CHICKEN TORIE. It has a
revolutionary war motif. There is a path with 21 spaces
and 21 numbered discs are placed on them at random.
There are cards with matching numbers which are distributed
among the players. One extra unnumbered card in a "Torie".
When a disc is landed on that card is dis canded, Players some -
times take cards from another's hand. When all the discs have
been reached player holding the "Torie" card loses.
Went to the office listed for Fyanes. The girl there didn't know whether it
was still being sold or not. Didn't follow up on it.
Went to the office listed for Universal. Noone there.
Also stopped at Milton Bradley to ask about their adult games, Noone there.
Went to Lowe and met Robert Rudolph, the sales manager. He was very
pleasant and interested in my book. Gave me a catalog and a copy of
SCRIBBAGE. He said that it was played with a word formed by one
player, then the next player adds a crossing word etc. At home
saw that that wasn't the case.
He asked for my card & I said I'd bring him one,
On way back to office stopped in a jewerly material store and looked
at some of the material there will make good, fairly inexpensive
game equipment.
Post card from Mike Abrams telling me to hold on to
SUCCESSION.
Wrote a letter to Broman - Percepta asking them if they sold
their games to Saalfield.
Getting together material on book to bring on Thursday; letters
of permission, etc.
Arthur called. Has some new things to show me when we get together.
