WEDNESDAY 12 MARCH 1969
71st day - 294 days to come
Working on diagrams all day.
Phil Orbanes over. Brought me rules and equipment for the
following games : - FORTUNES & EMPIRES
INFINITY
CONFRONTATION
THE MONEY GAME with THE ROBBER BARONS
ACTION
Also cards for CAR*TEL. Phil is still working on an entirely
new version of this; he agrees with me that it shouldn't be
an imitation of BRIDGE.
Phil, BB, and I played FORTUNES & EMPIRES. It was excellent.
(I won soundly.)
Phil and I played TROMINO GO. We placed all the pieces
and then moved a piece of the proper letter as long as it was at
an edge and didn't isolate another piece or pieces. Phil got in
a position where I could win in the next move and surround
5 pieces. including Phil, however, placed a piece which
enclosed a blank space and five of Phil's pieces and three of
mine, for a net score of 2 for me.
I intend to use this for my first column for STRATEGY & TACTICS.
I asked Phil if it had any commercial possibilities. He said only
if I could get a series of games using the equipment. Being in
the magazine wouldn't harm their chances.
