To M.B. showroom again at lunchtime to see Mel Taft but he wasn't there.
Went to Schaper and found Bill Garrity in. Showed him FITTING & PROPPER.
He was somewhat interested but was talking about simplifying it for
children. Wanted to take it with him but I said I had to show it to
someone else. Before this he showed it to Mr. Schaper who didn't seem
too impressed. Also showed him ANOTHER but he said it was defin-
itely too adult.
Went to Continental Promotions Inc. Arnie Margolis. The book he was
talking about yesterday was Martin Gardner's MATHEMATICAL PUZZLES & DIVERSIONS - 2ND BOOK.
I told them that I just didn't have things in shape to show them this
time and to be sure to come next time they come. They said they would.
In same room got a copy of LINGO (Dynamic Creators of America).
Not much, a simple word game, but they have a TM on the name, they
claim.
To Cadaco. Made Met Jerry Douglas Bolton (I think that is his name) the V.P.
who took Koch's place when he retired. He showed me DECISIONS, DESCISIONS.

There is a container with a top as shown.
Underneath there are 4 sliding pieces of
cardboard which are connected to the 4 knobs
on the 4 edges. The 4 pieces have holes
located so that, depending on which end of the
slot the knob is, either one set of 8
holes or the other is open. At any time one
hold is open. The arrangement of holes is:-
2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15 - 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 16
4, 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15 - 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11, 16
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, - 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 - 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
As a puzzle 15 marbles are put on at
random 12 blue and 3 yellow. Object is to manipulate the knobs
so as to get the 12 blue marbles [crossout] dropped below before a yellow
one is dropped. As a game the marbles are started the same way.
Take turns in moving a knob, except that can't move same one moved by
the previous player. When drop a blue keep it. When drop a yellow, re-
turn it and also one of your blue if you have one. Play till all
blue are gone. (Fairly complete rules.) For 2 players, I think.
Also saw SEE THE U.S.A. Very attractive art work but the game is child-
ish. The board has map of U.S. with many city and holes next to each
for pegging. Spin to get a starting letter and then, against a timer,
try to peg as many cities as possible starting with that letter.
He asked me how many copies of a game 3M sells. Told him very
roughly. Their better items sell 100,000 a year or better. He wants me
to send things even if Koch had turned them down; he sees things differ-
ently.
To C.O.5. Charley Parker no longer with them. They have a new
one DUMY RUMY. (see 1969 Ad Clips). Each player has 4 pawns
(where are they started?). Move by throw of dice. When land on another
player's pawn that pawn is captured. The capturer then gives the other
player a card, face down (4 are dealt to each at the beginning). Ideally it
should be the same color as the captured pawn. But the player may bluff.
