MONDAY 17 FEBRUARY
1969 48th day - 317 days to come
Fabio called. He finished reading the manuscript. Said he had dreaded
reading it but instead found it fascinating. Wants to Understands
all the games except CARD BASEBALL, since he doesn't know the
first thing about Baseball, and DOMINO BEAD GAME, which he
found the scoring difficult to follow.
He wants to prepare sheets with three of four games
to sell the salesmen in the company on my book. Wants to use
CARD BASEBALL & SLAM (which he loves). I suggested FOCUS and
LAP as the others. Wanted me to prepare a little descriptive ma-
terial but I told him the preface would probably be suitable
and that I would send it to him Wednesday.
The Daily News had an editorial supporting the State Lottery and men-
tioned a gambling game that is going around called by various
names:- RAZZLE DAZZLE, RAZZLE, BOLERO, DOUBLE-UP, TEN-POINTS,
AUTO RACES, NEVADA BANK, PLAY FOOTBALL. Sometimes you play it
with marbles and roll board, sometimes with dice. Almost always you
lose because the odds against the sucker are astronomical.
Stan Harris called. We'll get together at 200 Fifth Ave.
to discuss the Createk games.
Mr. Witkind, from the bookstore on our floor, called (he is home
after a heart attack) and said he had a book
AUSGEWÄHLTE KARTENSPIELE by Stabenow. I thanked him but
said I had a copy.
Set up a new letter arrangement for SPELLBINDER with the
same letters for red & blue, and for green & orange.
Rcd. the 4th quarter report for CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN - $23.42.
Rcd. a letter from Chris Wagner. Will get together soon.
From Bryce Russell rcd. his three games: RAT RACE, ASTRO BLITZ,
[crossed out] CUBE FUZION. Rules and top sheet of board for
the first two; rules for the third.
Claude called and we arranged to get together tomorrow. Asked
me to bring him 27 small wooden cubes. Got 40 out for him.
Finished the Preface and a Dedication to Bernice.
(cont. from 2/18) [2/27]
Reading STRATEGY & TACTICS on subway.
Stan Harris supposed to come tonight but his car conked out. Will come
next Tuesday.
