FRIDAY 7 FEBRUARY 1969
38th day - 327 days to come
Jim Martin, from our office, said he saw ab article on games
in the Wall St. Journal one day this week. He'll look
it up and bring it to me next Monday.
Felicia called. She rcd. my check. She also rcd. a carbon
of a letter from Bill Caruson to me. He rcd.
EXECUTIVE DECISION and appreciates all the work I did on
it. They will get to it as quickly as possible.
To Fabio with the manuscript. He found it quite interesting,
or so he said, after spending 10 minutes browsing thru it.
Disc Discussed the diagrams. He prefers having the straight
lines inked ruled but other material can be free hand. He called
in a girl from the production department, Pat. Diagrams
on tracing paper are O.K., without being mounted on
opaque paper. They should be on the same size paper
(to avoid being lost) and shouldn't have too many different
reduction factors. I'll figure on 25%, We decided on
used using a little larger than usual page size. Pat said
that they will add the printed material to the diagrams
and also they can provide lines for listed material, as for
the table of contents.
After Pat left I asked Fabio whether they could use
red for the hearts & diamonds. He'll check and if it
doesn't add too much to the cost they'll use it and once
red is being used it should be added to other diagrams.
Set the following deadlines : -
Introduction - Week of Feb. 17.
Diagrams - March 15.
Reviews - April 15.
Told Fabio of Jim's game and my BRIDGE scoring. He
said that the book was getting rather long but to use
it since I say it is important.
Pat, incidentally, was fascinated by the book. She has
just discovered, and loves, GO.
BB got a leaflet from Dave Miriam advertising some Dover
books. Two looked interesting: -
THE MASTER BOOK OF MATHEMATICAL RECREATIONS by Fred. Schuh
Translation of WUNDERLIJKE PROBLEMEN (See 1963 diary).
NEW PUZZLES IN LOGICAL DEDUCTION by George F. Summers.
