MONDAY 23 DECEMBER
1968 358th day - 8 days to come
Called Felicia. THESE UNITED STATES came back.
Arnold Shapiro wrote. Decision still up to a V.P. He thinks CINEMA and
NOMINATION will be returned the beginning of next year, after he
talks to the V.P.
Bryce Russell called them long distance and spoke a long time.
FITTING & PROPER arrived. He finds it fascinating, but he doesn't
know quite what to do with it.
He wants to look at everything, even the dogs. They might [crossed out]
give him ideas.
He will be here in January, and will visit me.
He has made up a model of Connor's TOTTER. He also likes PITFALL.
He asked their advice about putting two so-so boards in a box,
using common equipment. We all think it's a lousy idea.
Rcd. cards from Tom Atwater & Roy Makepeace - with his system of notation
for FOCUS. Also says that they always a game going.
Another letter from Haar Hoolim (in duplicate - one of which I dis-
carded).
Rcd. a X-Mas card from Warren Buell, with a short note.
Finished writing up the DOMINO BEAD GAME and started the introduction
to HAGGLE.
Dale & Dana checked over the first 18 pages of the first chapter of
the book and picked up a couple of points to fix up.
Jim Dunnigan over with this game MARLBOROUGH which he made up for
my book. Played it and it was fair. But it was much too complicated for
readers to reproduce. Told Jim and he agreed. He'll work on a game
with a less complicated board, depicting a single battle. Hopes to have it
in a week or so.
He intended to bring CONGLOMERATE, but someone borrowed his fin-
ished copy.
Showed Jim NETWORK, but he was too tired to try it.
Jim said that A-H was putting out more game in the book case line.
