FRIDAY 6 DECEMBER 1968
341st day - 25 days to come
Finished writing up SKEDOODLE KNIGHT CHASE. Wrote the
introduction to Chapter 3 and started working on OSMOSIS.
Played some 2-hand games with BB & with Dale.
Also wrote up ALL MY DIAMONDS.
(cont. from 12/5) [12/5]
Showed me his game of CONGLOMERATE. There is a box
board with strings of hexes noted with compny names
(A1, A2, A3; B1, B2; C1; D1, D2; E1; F1; F2, F3; etc.) placed in
and other hexes left blank. There is a card for each
letter and when one is drawn, say A, all the player put
in sealed bids on one or more of the A companies.
When get two or more in a row it is a conglomerate and
players can try for a profit using a die.
(Not completely worked out yet.)
Renwal still hasn't approved the budget so I can't
start working yet. Jim thinks that 6 hours a month is not
enough for me to accomplish much and he'll bring it up at
a meeting.
Discussed his doing a game for my book and he'll do
a very simple war GAME. Will have it ready in a week or
two. He wanted to use hexes but they are too
difficult to reproduce by hand. He'll use a brick pattern,
which is topologically the same instead.
Discussed my doing an article for STRATEGY & TACTICS.
Diecided that after March 15th I will do a review of
some good, non-war, strategy games. If it gets a good
reception it could become a regular feature.
Friday cont.
BB called up Esquire Magazine office, asking how to get permission
to use POKE in my book. Girl was sure there would be no trouble.
Gave her the name of the lawyer in Chicago to write to.
