TUESDAY 19 NOVEMBER
1968 324th day - 42 days to come
Called Jim Dunnigan during day. He said he tried to get me last
Friday and got a couple of busy signals.
The meeting at Renwal last Thursday came up with the con-
clusion that at first they would do all their own games. For
next toy fair they will pick 6 from the following 7:-
BATTLE OF BRITAIN
THE MONEY GAME (Jim's [crossed out] WALL STREET. He mailed me a copy, but not the 1929 variation.)
CONGLOMERATE (A new game by Jim)
CHAIN REACTION (Phil's)
CONFRONTATION (A simplified version but Jim thinks it still isn't simple enough)
RENDEZVOUS (Phil's. Space them. Jim isn't crazy about it.)
RED BARON (A simpler war game, by Jim.)
They want me to do consulting, but wait until I get a
definite go ahead.
We'll get together, probably next Friday, perhaps with
Phil too. Phil will probably call me tonight.
Chris Wagner is out for the present since he wants a large salary to relocate.
At Klein's saw HEADACHE (Kohner). This is a companion game
to their TROUBLE which is a PARCHISI variant.
HEADACHE has a die in an enclosed "pepper" and a track
[diagram of circle with 8-pointed star track; four parts labeled "BLUE Start," "Yellow Start," "Red Start," and "Green Start"]
as shown. 2 to 4 can play and each
player has four cone shaped pieces.
Players in turn pop the die. Start
a piece on a 5. A red dot gives
another pop. Single pieces move only
in a clockwise direction. When land
in same space as opponent's piece,
or controlled pile, cover it. Piles
can move in either direction but
cannot switch during a move. A player
cannot cover his own piece or pile.
If no possible move can be made,
pop again. A starting space cannot be landed on until all
pieces of that color have been entered. All junction
spaces are safety spaces. As players pieces are covered they
are out of the game. Last in wins. (Fairly complete rules.)
Decided that in FOCUS the rule about switching pieces
will be as follows:- The player who plays first starts by
switching out one of his pieces with on of opponent's and
then immediately starts by making a regular play.
Thought of a checkerboard game I'll probably call NETWORK (II).
Object is for a player to complete a "network" of at least
6 pieces, as shown in the illustration. The paths between
pieces must be clear of both enemy and friendly pcs.
There must be a turn at each piece in the network. Only
one piece in each of the terminal rows can be used, altho
