THURSDAY 14 NOVEMBER 1968
319th day - 47 days to come
November PLAYBOY had a spread on games. showed the boxes
of all the 3M games in one picture, that is the
Bookshelf. They also had a more detailed picture of
MR. PRESIDENT.
At Brentanos : -
Saw EURO-CARD & AMERICA USA (Nova Learning Corp.)
Each has ae map of the area showing the divisions
in outline. There is also a set of cards, one for each
division (country oe state). On the other side is information
about the division. Various levels of games : -
Recogni Matching the card to the place on the map,
Knowing the name of the division. "Structuring" a
set of questions on the divisions. (Fairly rough idea.).
Bought CHESS VARIATIONS by John Gollon. Has a 3-handed
Chinese variation. The author is supposed to be working
on a book on board games other than CHESS.
At Korvette's saw BOARD POKER (BO-PO) (Cardinal). The rules
didn't seem too clear. Something about six different
poker hands being dealt out a few cards at a time. Each
player has one card which he can include somenhere.
Bet at various times on which hand will win; also bonuses
for picking hands of certain strength of higher. (Very
rough idea. Will have to look at again.)
At French Book Store at Rockefeller Center looked at
DICTIONNAIRE DES JEUX (Claude Ichou, éditeur, 1964)
To Rizzoli to pick up PICCOLA ENCICLOPEDIA DEI GIUOCHI E PASSATEMPI. Had it upstairs and must arrange before hand to have it brought down it come after 6.
Felicia called BB. Bill Dodge told her that Miss Grant, of
NEWSWEEK was doing a Christmas article and didn't particularly
like games except for DIPLOMACY. because she
knows the inventor (or manufacturer). Felicia called her
and told her about me. She said she'd call me.
At Korvette's also saw DARK SHADOWS. (Whitman). Board
with multiple paths, each one having a symbol on a
color. Have cards with matching colors or symbols.
Hold 4 cards in hand. To move to next space must
play a matching card. Then replace a card. At branches
can choose path to take. Win by reaching end. (Fairly complete idea.)
