THURSDAY 7 NOVEMBER 1968
312th day - 54 days to come
Alice called. Fred Blakely of BUSINESS WEEK called her to ask for
information for a piece on stock market games. She suggested that I
call him: -
{Fred Blakely
BUSINESS WEEK magazine
{971-3156
I called and he told me that he knew of these games: -
STOCKS AND BONDS
STOCK MARKET - (See 1967 diary The one at Brentano's and Futures
is the same game. Brentano's said that it was a flop & they were
just selling out what they had. He called the address in Akron.
See 1967 Playthings Directory - and there was no answer.)
BROKER
TRANSACTION (Fred found out that there is a new edition which is supposed
to be simpler but better. It will be around once the stores sell out
their old stock.)
BUY OR SELL
CORNER IV
I told him about : -
STOCK MARKET GAME (Whitman) (which he later bought)
TYCOON (Parker) (Later he told me that he called and spoke
to Ed Parker who said that stock market games were a flop
and they are dropping RICH UNCLE because it is too simple
and TYCOON because people who like this sort of thing would
rather play with money on the market.)
ACQUIRE Told him that stocks [crossed out] were an important part of
the game. (He had 3M send up a set.)
Had him call me in the evening. Told him about : -
SPECULATION - Gave him name and address of the manufacturer.
STOCK TICKER [Gave him name and address of the manufacturer.]
WALSTRETE- Gave him company and address and told him that it
was in the 1966 Playthings directory but not in later ones. Later
found it was in 1967 & 1968.
I asked Fred to let me know what he found out about WALSTRETE. Said
he would. Said he would send me a copy of the article. He asked
me for my name and a lot of questions about ACQUIRE so I think I'll
be in it.
Fred said I might get some of the games after he is finished with the
article. I invited him to visit to see my collection. Said he'd like
to, but we didn't set a date.
Felicia called. Letter from Bill Caruson that EXECUTIVE DECISION
arrived.
F.A.O. Schwartz catalog arrived. Has BAZAAR.
Sent 3M royalty check to I-S
Jim Dunnigan called .Things are moving at Renwal-Gamescience
Mr. Ceyci wants to really get moving and we'll have a big
meeting at my house, probably next week on Wednesday.
