MONDAY 4 NOVEMBER 1968
309th day - 57 days to come
Wrote up CUPS
Clande called. He spoke to an editor at McGraw-Hill on the phone.
The editor wants him to send in a summany of a game book -
Seems quite intenested. Read me the introduction to his book and
it sounds good. Asked him about LINES OF ACTION. He said it would
be ok, for me to use it but he would like to use PATTERNS II. I told
him that my book is fundamentally based on the fact that the games
cannot be found elsewhere. Said I'd discuss it with my editor.
Later discussed it with BB and decided to skip LINES OF ACTION and
use another of his that he doesn't want to use and have him use one of
mine that I don't intend to use.
When Claude called McGraw-Hill he asked to talk to the one who edited
THE COMPLEAT STRATEGYST and was connected with him.
Wrote up example examples for 2 handed SPELLBINDER to answer
Bob Claude's questions, also a covering letter.
Finished writing up CUPS.
Jim Dunnigan called and had me speak to Chris Wagner. He says there is a
large pile of games at Renwal - GameScience that have to be evaluated
and that there is noone there who can do it. Asked what I'd want as
a consultant Said at $10 an hour which he said was fine.
Asked whether it would be better for me to go there on to have the
games brought to me. With the latter I'd have all my files available.
Jim and Chris will visit me shortly.
(Cont. from 11/3) [11/21]
In Cleveland Phil saw that 3M was test marketing FEUDAL & FOIL also a CHESS set in bookshelf format. He did.
not see the card games but will look again for me.
BB mailed ANOTHER to Jerry D'Arcey.
Phil also said that A-H was not using Jim's game of WALL STREET because
they don't want to pay royalties.
