Called Jerry D'Arcey. He is in New York to see some game
companies about action games. He also with get back
BLUFF from E.S.R. He will go home this afternoon.
He was already at Parker Brothers. They gave him a
$500 advance on KU-FU but now are having 2nd thoughts
about it. They told him that COUP D'ÉTAT is picking up.
Jerry rewrote the rules and they will use them. Jerry sub-
mitted his THE GAME OF URANIUM to Parker.
{In a small town bought a trivial game by Watkins Strathmore.
HUNT. It has attractive cards with pictures of animals.
Jerry is going to show the chapter of his book on "Adult
Games" to Grove Press. I told him about CRAZY BLOCKS.
which was in July '68 T&N and is just like his
HANG UP. Promised to send him the clipping. He is
manufacturing "Hang Up" himself and selling it locally.
Bought a large supply of plastic arrows in 5 colors for
$1.20 in Hudson, N.Y. They are rather flimsy but are usable
as game marker's when direction is required.
At the Berkshire Authenium [Athenaeum] in Pittsfield, Mass. saw
HOW TO WIN AT SOLITAIRE by Walter B. Gibson, Doubleday 1964.
It contained the following two some what different games : -
TIT-TAT-TOE - Deal out 4 cards in a 3x3 square. A line
of 3, including the diagonal can be removed if it is
all the same color (red or black), it is the same denomination,
or it is in sequence (with Ace low).
If more than 1 can be removed, there is a choice, which
provides the skill. Removed cards are replaced from
the deck. Win by getting all cards dealt out.
Variations : - If the layout will permit all the cards
to be removed at one time (three lines) it is a "sweep"
and the game is won.
The Ace can be considered High as well as low to make
the game easier.
The 2 jokers can be used. They are completely wild.
There are now 54 cards and which deal out equally
in 3's. To win the player must be able to remove one
more line after the last 3 cards are dealt out.
MONTE CARLO - Deal out 20 cards as shown. The sequence of
order is as shown by the numbers. Any
two (but not 3) cards that are of the
same denomination and are adjacent to
each other, including diagonal, can be removed.
When cards are removed the cards below
(higher number) in the sequence are moved
up and additional cards are added to the end.
Win by removing all cards.
