SUNDAY 4 AUGUST
Eight Sunday after Trinity 1968 217th day - 149 days to come
Wrote the rules for FITTING & PROPER & BB typed them. Finished this
completely and also ANOTHER, WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU?, TOTALLY -- .
Jerry D'Arcey called. Wants to get together in Salem. BB decided not
to go since Dale wasn't feeling well. I arranged to pick Jerry up at
Logan airport in Boston tomorrow night and share a room in Salem.
Spent about half an hour looking thru the Parker archives material.
Packed an extra copy of POWER POLITIK to give to Parker.
(cont. from 8/5) [8/6]
(They don't have to be equal since not nearly all
the cards are used.) Five cards are placed face up in the
common row in the center. Players in
turn look at the top card of their batch.
[Diagram drawn of 5 x 9 grid]
They may place it face up in any of the
20 spaces on their side of the board or,
if they don't care for it they can discard
it. Play until one player has covered all of
his board. The other player then must
cover his with cards are drawn from the deck
without the opportunity to discard.
Players score for each row or column with
one of the following:
[Two columns side-by-side.
First column, left to right:
Row 1: 1 pair ---- 2 pts.
Row 2: 2 pairs ---- 4 pts.
Row 3: 3 of a kind ---- 6 pts.
Row 4: Straight ---- 7 pts.
Row 5: Flush ---- 8 pts.
Second column, left to right:
Row 1: Full house ---- 10 pts.
Row 2: 4 of a kind ---- 20 pts.
Row 3: Straight flush ---- 30 pts.
Row 4: Royal flush ---- 40 pts.
Row 5: Five aces ---- 50 pts.
Curly bracket: "Jokers count."]
Jokers may be placed anywhere but only can figure
in one of the last three scores. More than one joker
can be used in a hand. In a group of 3 or 4 or 5
2 identical cards can be used, or in a flush.
(Jerry made a gadget where the common cards
raised and has spaces to place the five common cards
and on the sides spaces to place the two batches of
cards. The rest of the board is movable and can be pushed
in for storage.) [Parker liked it and Jerry left a copy.]
Jerry left a set of HANG UP again. Hank Simmons seemed
interested again.
They are definitely going to put out KUFU. Jerry has
eliminated the board and instead includes 4 square
plastic markers and a 14" string. The markers are set
in a 14" square using the string. The string can also
be used to check interferences. (Jerry has a 27% in-
terest in "Kufu".)
Jerry told me of a stock market game he is working on.
