MONDAY 20 MAY
Rogation Day 1968 141st day - 225 days to come
Thinking of a game idea which might be called SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPS II.
[diagram drawn of three separate 3 x 3 grids with various lines drawn]
There are a series
of transparent pieces,
as shown, with differ-
ent markings on each.
They are arranged in
a pattern, such as a square
with the pieces on the
outside being available
Pieces are piled one at a time. Object is to cover up all the segments
as soon as possible. Possible scoring. Multiply the number of uncovered
segments by the number of the piece placed (one piece is placed as a
starter and then count the others in order) and this is counted against
the player. (Rough idea to be worked out.)
Spoke to Alice. She has a date with Will Erickson Wednesday at 2.
Fabio Coen called to check on how I was doing. Told him that I inten-
ded to take a month off from work in late autumn and wrap up most of
the writing. He's satisfied. Some publishers in England will want to
look at the book once it is finished.
Called Bill Bentzin. He was out of town & I spoke to Bob Mocomber. He said
that Nick Politis would call me in the evening to make plans for
tomorrow. When I didn't hear from him till late I called him and we
arranged to meet.
Rcd. a letter from Jerry D'Arcey. He discussed E.S.R. in con-
nection with BLUF, PROGRAMMIT, and my TOTALLY --. He also
brought up Frank's TOTAL OUT. KUFU was returned by
Lakeside & he's going to try it on Parker. Parker hasn't
completely decided on HANGUP yet.
Received a letter from Tom Atwater. He likes my solution
for INTERPLAY & TEMPO. He has contact with a publishing
house who may go in for games and wants my permission
to show them the peg games.
Jim Morgan called. He & Will Erickson can't make it here. Set
date for 12 tomorrow. Prepared STATEMENT, FREE FOR ALL,
and WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? to bring along tomorrow.
Looked at the rules for the 3M bookshelf games. In MR. PRESIDENT
I wasn't sure about the casting of ballots in case of a player
winning a debate.
