131st day - 235 days to come
Called Ira Lubow at Renwal (see 5/8). He wants an Industrial
Designer to Work on the football GAME. Spoke a little and are
both looking forward to meeting each other.
Thought of a variation of TEMPO. A piece on the edge can move
along the edge if the next space on the inside is occupied.
This gives greater mobility and eliminates the necessity of the
special corner diagonal move, but it makes the perpetual move
draw much easier to [crossout] occur. Decided not to do anything with it
right now.
Thought of another variation for STATEMENT (possible
name "Empires"). The state cards are placed face up in
5 columns of 10 cards each. Players in turn take one card
from top and take possession of that state. The first three
cards each takes are separated states. After that can oln only
take a state adjoining one you already have. One with most
states wins. On for more advanced children - the most elec-
toral votes.

Barney Rich called BB and would like me to call him Thursday.
Will told me that he was at the 3M booth, before I came,
with NUMBRILLE and DOZEN DIAMONDS (both versions). He
said that an outstanding game expert thought they were
the best number games of all. Will asked him if he
meant Sid Sackson. Will thought they were more suitable
for classroom use.
[Visit to Stationery Show. Begins on 5/21] [drawn arrow pointing left]
Jim Morgan also told me that they were making a new board
for ACQUIRE that was much sturdier altho, once the
initial cost of the molds are payed [paid?] off, will be a little
cheaper. They are also returning to the better grade of
cardboard for the stock certificates.
MY SON THE DOCTOR:- saw rules for this but they weren't
completely clear. There are 12 cards for each of the 4
professions, 8 good and 4 bad. Player must collect 4 good ones
of one profession and move onto that space to win. There
are smaller cards for each of the "odd-jobs" but I couldn't
find their purpose.
Jim Morgan and I discussed the matter of penalty points in
BAZAAR. His original thought in suggesting this was to
prevent a player who was ahead from loading his
