SATURDAY 27 APRIL 1968
118th day - 248 days to come
Working on equipment for WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? One deck
of cards completed.
Played PATTERNS II with BB and the Fredericks. Decided at
the start that a penalty for a wrong guess is necessary.
Thinnk that the following make the best rules: -
All spaces that are filled in as guesses should be enclosed
in parenthesis. Only these spaces are checked.
If correct they score plus 1. If wrong minus 1. 0 is
lowest score for guessers. Designer scores twice the
difference between the highest score and the lowest
score that is 5 or higher. If only one score is 5 or
higher the designer scores 0. If no score is above 5 or
higher the designer scores minus 10 as a penalty.
Played WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? with BB and the Fredericks.
Used a 48 card deck. Each player dealt 10 cards and 8
placed face up on the table. Players in turn trade a
card from their hand with one on the table. May skip a
turn if desire and retrade of a later turn. If no
other player wishes to trade a player may continue trading.
When no player wishes to make another trade the game
is over.
Got the February and April Scientific American columns from Jerry.
The March has an ar column on prime numbers which they
want to keep for their son.
Martin Gardner called during the day. The man who came to see him
yesterday was not from KMS (the vice president Kurtz - or
something like that, I met him at Toy Fair - called him during
the week also but didn't make an appointment) but from a
plastic company in Detroit. They discussed puzzles they that
might be produced, but nothing definite.
