FRIDAY 26 APRIL 1968
117th day - 249 days to come
Brought TOTALLY -- to Mel Meyer. He liked the name and the
packaging. I mentioned that there were other number
cube games with different playing principles. He is taking
the game for 4 to 6 weeks study and gave me a letter
as a receipt. He and his partner have formed a new
company, MelMick, to put out BLUFF and my game, if
they accept it. They will give an advance and 5% royalties
at the start but sliding down to about 2 1/2 %.
He said that Jerry agreed with these terms, the exact
figures will still be negotiated. (I'll contact Jerry and
coordinate our figures.) Mel said that with TV advertising [crossed out]
they will need to sell at least 100,000 copies of a
game per year.
Discussed my changes in PAYOFF. He said not to rush
getting them finished. (I'll shelve it for the present.)
Felicia called. They rcd. their report from 3M.
ACQUIRE - $21,432.88 sales
BAZAAR - $2,864.76 sales
Total royalties &971.91
This represent a dropoff on ACQUIRE sales for this quarter
from about $24,000 in 1967, but just about the same as 1966.
Felicia thinks BAZAAR will do well this year. She also says
that storekeepers, although they don't push ACQUIRE
since it isn't new , consider it a staple.
At Brentano's on 8th St. saw that they were restocked with
the Bookshelf games. Also saw FASCINATING CUBE again. It
is copyright 1966 by Executive Enterprises. (No address
given and I don't know why I previously thought it was
a California outfit.)
