THURSDAY 25 APRIL 1968
St. Mark, Evangelist
116th day - 250 days to come
Further thoughts on PATTERNS II. Try that there is no penalty
for a wrong guess, except, of course that the player
does not get a point for that space. Also, if a player's
score is under 5 it is disregarded in calculating the
"designer's" score. If only one score is 5 or over the
"designer" gets 0. If all scores are under 5 the "designer"
get a penalty of 10 points.
At B & N bought MATHEMATICAL PUZZLES & DIVERSIONS - 2nd BOOK
by Martin Gardner; because of his additional comments on ELEUSIS.
Called Felicia. Connor Barrett was there and I spoke to him.
He is interested in educational games. I told him to check
with Alice on 3M.
I asked Felicia whether INFINITE PLANE & SPECTRUM had
returned from Champion yet. Felicia said that Alice had
called two days ago & Mr, Spellman said he would sent the
games right out.
They have a game STAGE BUSINESS which has an attractive
model which they would like me to look at. Will
go there sometime next week.
The book contract finally came with the correct royalties.
Called Martin Gardner to tell him anout it. Discussed
other things, including FASCINATING CUBE, the SOMA imitation.
Branch Russel of KMS is visiting him tomorrow to discuss
puzzles they can put out. Also possibly games. He'll call me
Saturday to give me a report.
During day made repros of rules for [crossed out] TOTALLY --;
also the Playthings article on games from the Toy Fair.
In evening finished packaging TOTALLY --.
Remember that about two weeks ago Claude mentioned seeing
THISTLE being remaindered for $1.50. This probably means it
is being discontinued.
