MONDAY 22 APRIL 1968
113th day - 253 days to come
Brought to the office the combination board and rules for NEW BATTLE OF ARMY CHESS and made twoe reproductions which I gave to Dave, He will try to have
the Chinese engineer working on the Turnpike Bridge translate it.
Unfortunately the rules were in red and didn't reproduce too well.
Thought of another some more rules for PATTERNS II. Players can only ask for 25 spaces after which they may guess the remaining or guess
some and leave others. They never can get a score below 0.
The "designer" scores, regardless of the number of players, the
twice the difference between the high score and the low score,
other than 0. If only one player makes a score other than 0 the
"designer" scores 0. If all the players score 0 the "designer" gets
a penalty of 25 points - for making the pattern too difficult.
Thinking of ideas for changing PAYOFF in line with last Friday's
suggestions. Put a company on each card and also a price which is
is 10 times the number of 10 million dollars for each member of the
coalition. If a letter of the coalition is not in use and other player
can join the coalition, Except when 4 play at the invitation of
the other players in the coalition. When 4 play, however, the
missing players are not replaced; instead the value of the company is reduced.
The companies have 4 different overall types. If a player gets
more than one of a type he gets a bonus as follows : -
2-3 billion; 3-9 billion; 4-18 billion, 5-30 billion, 6-45 billion.
For keeping score eliminate the money, but not the I.O.U.s,
and substitute a grease pencil scoreboard with a space at the
bottom for keeping track of the company types.
Transogram sent me the rules for EAGLES, on a cardboard
from the box.
