WEDNESDAY 27 MARCH 1968
87th day - 279 days to come
Thinking of a game I thought of several years ago after looking
at some notes I had on it in the desk drawer. It is
called POSITION. My new ideas are as follows : - Use a 36 card deck, the
1 to 9 of 4 suits. 2 to 4 play. The cards are laid out in
4 layouts of 3 x 3. Each player controls 1 layout. With less than
4 players the unused layouts are dummys. In turn players may
switch a card in their layout with one in an identical position in one
of the other layouts. Or they may switch two cards in another players
layout. Object is to get the rows and columns to add up to the
same number as many times as possible. If more than one number
is repeated, only one, whichever the player chooses, is used.
For the repeated number score one for each occurance, two if
the same color, three if the same suit. (There is an idea here but it
needs working out.)
Alice called. Will Erickson acknowledged receipt of VENTURE CAPITAL
and HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME and said that "Sid has done his usual
excellent job of presentation. We will get right to testing them
and should have something to report by May." (Approximate
quote.)
Jim Dunnigan sent me all the STRATEGOS pages I asked
for, except three.
Wrote a letter to Arnold Shapiro and sent him the rules for
SKILL CARRE.
