Saturday 9 March 1968
Ember Day 69th day - 297 days to come
Caught up on game diary.
Played ODD OR EVEN, TEMPO & INTERPLAY with Phil. He liked the 2nd best.
Called the N.J. antique dealer (see 3/3). She has three games I might
like to have:- ROUND THE WORLD WITH NELLIE BLY
THE FLYING GAME
THE GAME OF PATIENCE (McLaughlin)
She asks $7 for the 3. I'll send the check to her and either pick up
the games or she'll bring them to Marylin. Also she'll notify me if
she finds other games.
She [crossout] had one other PAN AMERICAN CHESS (Pan American
Manf., Richmond, Va.). It is CHINESE CHECKERS with the 6 sections
marked with the names of 6 pan-Am. countries.
(cont. from 3/10) [3/11]
are 3 dice with a different color on each face. Players throw
the dice in turn and then, working against a 1 minute timer,
try to move the gadget so as to show the three colors to
match the dice. If successful take a face down piece of a
clown. Win by completing of the clowns. (Trading of pieces?)
NO GO:- See the catalog.
SQUARESVILLE:- The old game of BOXES with special equipment,
except that some spaces are specially marked and are worth 2 points
instead of 1. Also it is set up for 2 to 4 players.
TEED OFF:- 4 players play separately on their own field trying
to take off the most pieces by jumping. The empty space is
created for each player by his neighbor.
Arranged to bring GO SEE Wednesday at 8:30 to show Mr.
Koch and his development manager, Jane Wehnhoefer.
When I told Mr. Koch about doing a book with game reviews
he said there was a college professor who gave reviews of games on
TV and also a newsletter (I think). He'll send me info about it.
To I-S bringing VENTURE CAPITAL and HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME.
Bob Engel and Mary Hilt of Whitman. FOCUS is not selling well and
they know it is a good game. They will either give it an adult
image or drop it. I showed them Roy Makepeace's MINI-FOCUS.
They say that one or both of them will visit me in a sub-
sequent trip to New York.
Mary told me that she thought MAVERICK COUNTRY and CARRE
were great games.
Took GO SEE from Alice. We also decided to show DATA to
Cadaco.
Looked at Bill Dodge's game of STATES OF THE NATION. There
is a map of the U.S. showing the 50 states and there is
a point value on each (see later). There is also a deck of
50 state cards giving the neighboring states to each.
