Saturday 2 March 1968
Texas Independence Day 62nd day - 304 days to come
Almost completed a long letter to Alex Randolph.
Claude game me a copy of WATCH, also returned
KNOTS TO YOU.
Claude told me of a GAME that Paul was given
for consideration. The board is as shown. Each player has v
4 pieces set up in the [word crossed out] border area (don't
know exactly where). Moves are 1 space orthogonally
to an empty space. If a piece has been moved
to the main field and is then is moved to the
border it cannot be moved back to the main
field in the next move. Object is to get a row
of three in the inner field (don't know specifi-
cally but probably diagonally is OK).
[To the left of the above paragraph is a 5x5 grid of squares with the inner 3x3 cells surrounded by a red outline.]
Claude picked up 6 special dice with horses & odds - costs 25¢.
(Filed in EQUIPTMENT BOX.)
Claude gave me card from a store which has a large
selection of plastic boxes:
Max Landan
Industrial Supply Co.
324 Canal St.
New York, N.Y. 10013
(cont. from 3/1) [3/13]
Wednesday. He told me of a series of three books
by Donald Featherstone which were published in England by
Knightsbridge:- NAVAL WAR GAMES, LAND WAR GAMES,
AIR WAR GAMES. These are on sale at Womrath's in Queens
and at Sam's @ Park Row & Nassau St. in Manhattan. The
latter has a good selection of books on war gaming.
He has a book STRATEGOS which he will reproduce and
bring me next Wednesday.
He told me to meet with Phil Orbanes at the Gamescience
Corp. booth at the Statler Hilton Hotel.
Filed an ad for 1914 in 1968 Ad Clips.
James gave me Vol II, No. 2 of STRATEGY & TACTICS. Filed in
Miscellaneous box on shelf [22].
At hotel met with Bob Claude of 3M. He told me they changed
EGGHEAD OR CHICKEN to use letters instead of numbers [crossout] on the
cards, partly because of my comment to them about it.
Bob showed me an article in Toy & Hobby World about Universal
Games coming out with 5 "bookcase" games. [crossout] (see
7/18/66). AUCTION, THE BIG CAMPAIGN, MERGER, GAMBIT,
THE WORLD CONQUEST GAME (which used to be INTRIGUE and is the
only original game they have.) Depressed and worried about the
reduction clause in my contract. (Filed in 1968 Ad Clips.)
