At B & N bought AN INTRODUCTION TO LINEAR PROGRAMMING AND THE
THEORY OF GAMES by S. Vajda.
(cont. from 3/13) [3/13]
Games Research has INSIGHT (which is different from the
game of that name I already have). This is a party game
for up to 10 or 12 players. There are 26 "category" cards which
(I suppose) give situations with different answers or attitudes.
Players move around look [crossed out] There are 14 male and 14 female
"personality" cards. All the cards are spread around the room
and players circulate marking their answers to the 26
"categories" and picking 3 "personality" cards. Then they fill
in their selections for each of the other players. When all
are completed each player in turn goes "on stage" and
reads his own selections. The others mark themselves according
to how well they match. The player's self-evaluation is taken
as correct regardless of the other player's opinions.
They also had WATCH and CAMPAIGN.
To Lowe:- They were pleasant and showed me:-
SNAG:- A quadrille board with some corner spaces removed. The
squares are numbered. In some way (which I didn't get)
the players can place discs in matching spaces. When they
make a line of 4 (or more?) they take them off as
points. They also, by so doing, can hinder an opponent's plan
to get a "lay". Played by 2 to 4 (I think).
TRAFFIC:- A MONOPOLY imitation. A car trip with winning or
losing of money in different spaces along the way. Can
own gas stations and others pay you when land there, if
complete trip with enough money left to buy a "Cadillac"
you win. (Rough idea.)
To S & R:- As usual they were pleasant and told me about:-
SNAKE EYES:- The old game of throwing 2 dice and turning
over a number corresponding to the the total or any adding up
to the total. Continue until can't use a throw. Points
unturned count against you. Numbers are from 1 to 8.
GAME INVENTOR'S KIT:- A series of board parts and markers that can be put together in different ways and, I guess, a booklet
suggesting different ways to put together rules.
NUMBLE:- The same game which they have taken over.
CHARADES:- A fancy package with rules, hints, and topics.
At Avalon Hill met James Dunnigan

He has created their new game for this year 1914. He is
interested in my collection and will come for supper next
