THURSDAY 15 FEBRUARY
1968 46th day - 320 days to come
Decided to change the name of COMPANY to TOGETHERNESS. Also
noticed yesterday that by limiting the placement of the peg
to 3 spaces orthogonally or knight's move away from the last
peg each player is limited to half the spaces. Thinking of
allowing any space in the square 2 spaces away but this kept
it too tight. Finally decided to allow [crossed out]
a placement 3 spaces diagonally to change the patterning.
[diagram of 3 x 3 grid. Top row reads: O, O, O. Middle row reads: O, (blank), (blank). Bottom row reads: O, (blank), X]
Called Dr. Atwater. He was very pleasant and said that my
letter was on his desk waiting to be answered. Told him of Alex's
letter, and about the wood-peg games. He said he'd definitely
like to see mine. The com parent company of Setko is
Brown & Bigelow (something like that. I think they are
the printing co. that does calanders, etc.) and at present
the one who runs Setko has complete autonomy. They are
reorganizing and expanding so things may be changed, so it
is important to get the games in soon. They will be
adding a line of small size "bookshelf" games which will come
in plastic transparant sleeves. They'll be needing games for
that line too.
I suggested riding up there with the 3 games and also
some other to look at. He's busy next week and preferred
that I mail him the games and he'll try to come to New York
soon to look at my others. Told him I'd finish the games
over the weekend.
BB & I played TOGETHERNESS and ODD OR EVEN. Played latter
"Leader's Choice" where the player playing first chooses to play
"Odd" or "Even."
