TUESDAY 13 FEBRUARY
1968 44th day - 322 days to come
Worked out the play of ODD OR EVEN and COMPANY but didn't
get work out a board for either of them.
[diagram to right: 7 x 5 grid; top row has one open circle in each square; bottom row has one black circle in each square.]
Working out another game - APPROACH. The
board is as shown. Each player has 7 pcs.
set up as shown. Pcs. move forward either
one space or two. The opponent then moves
a pc. either in the same column or the
one to right or left. Etc. Capture is by
replacement. A capture cannot be made with a move of two.
Also a capture pc. which has a friendly pc. diagonally behind it
cannot be captures, except by a pc. that has 2 friendly
pcs. diagonally behind it, which cannot be resisted.
When a column has a capture in it, it is skipped whne
figuring which pcs. can move. Most captures wins. (Further work
will have to be done on this.)
[diagram of grid, each square has dark circles in center]
Worked out a board for ODD OR EVEN. Also
thought of adding an optional rule for
"Pre-Placement." Each player places a pc.,
not adjacent, before starting the regular
game, the first pc. of which is not ad-
jacent to either of the "pre-placed" pcs.
