TUESDAY 28 DECEMBER
Holy Innocents 1965 362nd day - 3 days to come
spoke to Bud. They are getting clippings from all over
the country. Will send me a big pack soon. He
heard of a game called something like AD which
treats advertising humorously. (Get bad breath - go back
7 spaces). He will try to run down the details for me.
Rcd. a letter from Hamley's. They are sending out
SPY RING but sent me a refund for HOROSCOPE
which is out of stock.
Rcd. a Christmas card from Al Vogl & From Bill Bentzin.
Sent cards to both of them with short messages.
Rcd. a letter from Herbert Baus' secretary. He is out
of town but will write when he returns. She sent
the Gam literature on two of his book - on advertising.
Started making the arrangement of colors for 9-11
7-9 & 10-12 CONCENSUS.
Spoke to Claude. He will go to Arthur's Thursday, probably
with Frankie. He suggested his SPLIT PERSONALITY game
as a 4-12 game. There are 60 cards each one with a
neurosis - such as "I have an uncontrollable desire for
mediocrity." Each card has a number from 1 to 60, the numbers
being roughly coded to the wording. Players trade cards
with each other by saying "I have an uncontrollable desire - - -
to trade." Numbers are not mentioned. Object is to get three
cards in numerical sequence or any number of cards that add
up to 100. Score sum of cards in sequence or in the group
(which is always 100 of course). [BB did not think that Alice
would not want to handle the theme. I thought the go theme
good but not too much of the mechanism.]
He had another idea for a game called WHAT IS MY THING?
Each player is dealt a card with an object or person on it. He
makes up a definition (or hint) that he hopes will be
guessed by half the players and missed by half. Each
player writes what he thinks is the object (or person). The
player giving the definition scores 1 point for the number
either guessing or not guessing, whichever is less. (For
example with 10 other players divided 5-5 the score is 5,
with 7-3 the score is 3). Each player guessing also scores
1 point. [This has possibilities, but I doubt if it would work
well with 4 players.]
Spoke to Arthur. The game he spoke of 12/26 is really a
new game and is called VERSAILLES.
