Called Herald-Tribune. No one knew anything about an article
on games.
Called Phil Wolf to (see 12/11) to see if Thelma could recall
anything further about the review on games. Also he
told me he had called a friend who had promised to
send him a flyer on LOW BIDDER. He will send it on
to me.
Rcd. a long distance call from Nick Sasso (Box 179,
Lander, Wyoming.) He saw the Chicago article on me
in the Denver Post. He has an educational GAME
based on American history & geography, and wanted my advice
as to marketing it. Told him the facts of life and
suggested I/S.
Arthur called. Has a new card game with High Deck.
Arranged to go there Friday, if Claude can make
it. It is a 3-hand game.
Thinking of another game for 4 to 12 - CONTRACTOR. There
are Each player represents a different type of
"craftsman". Each has starts with the same number
of "work units" represented by cards. There are
a set of "contracts" (a different set will
be required for each number of players) which
are auctioned off to the lowest bidder. Each
contract calls for a certain number of "work
units" of different types. In some cases there is
a choice between different classifications of
work to satisfy that part of the contract. Some
provision is to be worked out for representing a
contract being late (penalty clause). Players who
are successful bidders on contracts can, of course,
use their own labor where appropriate and must
bargain with other players for their labor. Players
can win by being G.S.s or just by sup supplying
labor.
This game is similar in mechanics to CINEMA. If
Hallmark does do CINEMA it should be a good
game to complete next year as an addition to the line.
