Saturday 6 November 1965
310th day - 55 days to come
Rcd. letter from Bill Bentzin with suggested questions,
and answers, for my tour. Most are good. Just a few
need discussion.
Worked all day on layout and then pcs. for playing
CONCENSUS. Played it with Marilyn, Dave, Dale, Dane, BB
& myself. It was definitely not popular. Played as
follows : - Use 36 cardboard squares, most with 3
different (out of 6) colors but some with 2 & 4.
These are shuffled and laid out on a 6 x 6 grid,
the spaces having numbers as shown in the first
diagram. Each player has a BINGO - type layout with
numbers are as shown in the second diagram.
[2 DIAGRAMS]
[DIAGRAM #1 (ON LEFT) IS A 6 x 6 GRID POPULATED WITH ALL OF THE NUMBERS FROM 1-36 IN A SEEMINGLY RANDOM ORDER]
[DIAGRAM #2 (ON RIGHT) IS A 6 x 6 GRID POPULATED WITH ALL OF THE NUMBERS FROM 1-36 IN ORDER FROM 1-36. 1 IS AT THE TOP LEFT CORNER. 36 IS AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER.]
Each player has one color identified
with him. (With this set
6, 5, or 4 can play.)
One of the cardboard squares is
marked as a starting point for a
marker. This marker is moved by
vote of the players. In case of
ties there is a preference. A
move to the right is first, then down, left, up. Moves
are one space orthogonally. In the space moved to each color
represented covers the number on their card. When
edges are reached, the board is considered continuous at all
edges. First to complete a When the marker enters a
number a second time, players who have this number covered
cover the one to the right or, if covered, the one below, V
etc.
First to complete a line of 6 wins. (3 finished at
the same time in our game.)
