SUNDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 1965
Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity
Old Defenders' Day (Baltimore, Md.) 255th day - 110 days to come
Worked a little on MARLBORO COUNTRY using the markers
I made yesterday, but without a board.
(cont. from 9/11)
could not be the same number.
There is a solitaire version which seems to depend
only on keeping a time record of the solutions as dealt out
from the pack.
ROYAL FREEZE (A & L - Brooklyn) Invented by Leonard Treinis.
1965.
The game comes with two sets of letter cubes,
12 in a set. Each set is identical. II cubes are identified
with a differently colored border. The 12th is a wild
cube. Additional sets of cubes are for sale.
One player throws his set and others match the
faced letters. They work behind screens to form
words in crossword fashion. There are 2 scoring
methods:-
1) Players must have a minimum length of a word
which is chosen by agreement, from 6 to 8. The length
of each word formed is squared. There is a bonus
for using the wild cube as Z, Q or X. Also for using
all cubes (don't remember amount of bonus). Deduct
2 for each unused letter.
2) Score 10 for each word formed regardless of
length. No minimum length requirements. Other scores
same as first version.
SPACE ACE (Lucky Star - Pompton Lake, N.J. - 1963) A board
game with the planets and some constellations object
to pick up "souveneers" of visits to different planets
and stars and return home with at least 5. Good to
get more because there is a pirate ship which
moves around (how?) and when a player lands on it
loses their souvenirs. Can use one souveneer to buy a
move for the pirate ship to get it to a safer space.
(Very rough idea.)
SPACE CHECKERS (Pleasuretime). A 3-dimensional
checker game played on 4 - 4x4 boards.
(cont. on 9/10)
