WEDNESDAY 11 AUGUST
1965 223rd day - 142 days to come
Alice called. She rcd. a confidential letter from the Hallmark Co.
They are considering going into the adult game line. They want a
game that can be played by 4 to 12 players. Winning depends on
wits & intellect, not chance. No board. Sophisticated. And can
be made into a deluxe package. I started thinking of a
GAME IDEA, a money game based on producing movies. It is
progressing well.
In evening played CHAIN REACTION with BB. Used the same
starting position as previously. Each player in turn takes five
turns moves. If starting from a free position, building a pile counts
as a turn move. If a player spills out, creates a pile with
opponent on top, or makes a goal, before using all 5 moves he loses the
remainder. Starting a free move a player must start with a
piece on his own side of the board, if he hopes to score. he may
start with a pc. on opponent's side of board in order to
improve his position, however he can't score on that turn.
After scoring, the player places his pc. on any space in
his nearest row. In scoring a player may not place one of his
pcs. see board on the top of a pile since he cannot move again.
Seemed to work quite well.
