SATURDAY 10 JULY
1965 191st day - 174 days to come
Rcd. letter from Bill Caruson. Will send games for me to screen
within a week or two.
Rcd. letter from K.G. Collins. Enclosed 1965 list of games. Only
2 new ones & don't look too interesting.
At Woolworth's saw THE MUNSTER'S GAME (M.B.) Carol There are
42 cards with numbers 0, 1, 2 (I think) players
(4 is preferable) are dealt 10 cards each; 2 are out of game.
Each player plays a card face down and each player places
a bet as to what the total will be. Numbers to bet on are from
1 to 7. There is also three spaces for 4 - 0s, 4 - 1s, 4 - 2s. Each
player can place 2 bets. [Rough idea].
Trying out ideas for PUSH-PULL (see 7/7). It would work
well to have the same objective as L.O.A., getting all the
pcs. joined. Also tried objective of dispersing the player's pcs.
so that none are in contact with each other. Later tried it
with Claude starting from following position:-
Game continued indefinitely and couldn't be
forced to a conclusion. Called the game
DISPERSAL.
[diagram of 8 x 7 grid with 7 white and 7 black circles]
With Claude, Anne & BB played AIRLINE,
Claude won. Terrific game again.
Claude showed a new nim-type game
played on the following board. (The num-
bers are for recording games only.)
There are 9 chips, 3 each of
3 colors. Players in turn play any
chip in any space. The same color
may not be in two adjoining spaces.
The player who plays the last chip
wins. Later called the game
CROWN JEWELS.
[drawing to left of overlapping circles with sections separated, each numbered with one number between 1-9]
Claude had an idea for a betting card game he called SHOWDOWN.
Use the 12 pictures which count 1 point each (my idea),
4 - 2s & 4 - 3s. Each player is dealt 3 cards. Players in
turn bet (or pass) and also can ask any other player 1 question
that can be answered "yes" or "no". If a player determines that
he has exactly the same total as another player (or thinks he
has) he announces. If right he wins the pot, if not he pays
a penalty and the high total wins the pot. If no one announces
the high hand wins when no player will raise further.
Players can drop out at any time.
To be worked out.
