Wednesday 26 May 1965
Rogation day 146th day - 219 days to come
Ordered 20 patents from 1927.
(cont. from 5/27)
the 2nd player places and announces. Then 1st player moves one space along a line and announces, etc. When move onto space occuppied by opponent, win.
Since the 2nd player always went into the same type of space as 1st player and had a 1 in 4 chance of winning at once, we changed the rules to have each player put down his pc. [pieces] without announcing and then start to announce with the first move.
Claude then tried with a move of 3 spaces instead of 1 space. Didn't seem to change much.
I suggested that a player announce when he is in the space with opponent. If he is correct he wins, if not he loses. This would eliminate the need for referee. Also it might pinpoint the play more to prohibit moving into the same type of space as opponent is in until read to chall challenge. Additional lines between spaces would probably be required.
Bob brought me a reproduction of the article on games mentioning him in MD magazine, May '65. Filed in Bob Abbott folder.
Arthur & Wald gave me a black and white set of their HIGH DECK. Filed Placed on [23].
Steve Spencer sent me a copy of ENTERPRISE to study as long as I wished. Also sent me the name of another game company from an Oct. 1960 magazine write-up.
