FRIDAY 21 MAY
1965 141st day - 224 days to come
Called Felicia to tell her of yesterday. She thought
she saw Steve Spencer mentioned a [crossed out] game which
was a combination of Chess & Bridge. Called him
and actually he was talking of BROKER.
(cont. from 5/20)
he'll contact me when in New York and come to see
my games.
SPACE CHECKERS (Pacific) seems to be Checkers played on a 4 x 4 x 4 board. Don't know the initial set-up or number of pcs. per player.
LIARS POKER - played with 60 cards with serial numbers. See game of same name in "Misc. Card Folder".
PLAY THE HORSES FOR FUN (Drueke) The old racing game of throwing 3 dice and moving the horses of the numbers thrown.
SHOOT THE MOON (Drueke) Action game of skill. Move a large metal ball on two sticks trying to get it into higher scoring spaces.
CHECKLINE (Crestline Mfr. Co. - Calif.) 3 dimensional tic-tac-toe, played on a 4 x 4 x 4 board. Usual skill version and also a luck version played with a die. On your turn throw a die. If 1, 2, 3, or 4 must play in that field with a 5, have choice. With a 6 get a penalty. Player before you can remove any 1 of your pcs. Object - 4 in a row.
Looked in on LEISTER CO. just party and gag material.
CHINESE ELEPHANT CHESS (Washburne) Fancy version of CHINESE CHESS.
Spoke to Steve Spencer, one of the partners putting out
BROKER. Had long conversation. He likes and has
ACQUIRE. He also has a collection of stock market games
all of which I know except ENTERPRISE & SPECULATION.
He will send me information about them and when he
is in New York next time he will get in touch with
me and come to see my collection.
He also said the book HOW TO BEAT THE DEALER
by Thorpe has interesting ideas that can be worked
into a new game. The book is about BLACKJACK.
Rcd. postcard from Paul Greenough. He will be intown
on 5/29 or 5/30.
(cont. from 5/19)
Anne gave me a clipping of the May 16, 1965 Journal -
American article mentioning Claude & me. Filed in
Miscellaneous box [22].
