THURSDAY 4 MARCH 1965
63rd day - 302 days to come
To I-S after work. Only Alice there. She gave me :-
FRUSTRATION - See files.
DOUBLE CROSS - See files (2nd copy).
CIRCULAR CHECKERS - See files. (Just the board).
Connor Barrett came. Played revised version of
CONTINUUM. First 3 handed, then 2 handed while I
watched, when two play each plays two colors and
uses adjacent sides (not across the board).
New scoring system :- 10 points for a purebred animal
5 points for each a hybrid animal
1 point for each pc. on the board and each captured pc.
-1 point for each unused pc.
I don't care for it yet.
Also showed RUSLTERS (see Board Games Folder) and
we both thought it was great.
Larry & Pearl Winters over. Played HIGH BID which
name may be changed to I'LL BUY THAT. Trying out
new rules to shorten game.
Used 1 set of 6 cards - $7,500
4 sets of 4 cards ea.
4 sets of 3 cards ea.
The values we used for the $ & 3 sets were a little
low and he intends to up them. I believe the following
would be god { 4s - $4,000 - $3,500 - $3,000 - $2,500
{3s - $2,400 - $2,000 - $1,600 - $12,000
Also used 8 buyers cards.
Each player given 8 cards (tho it might have been 7) &
$2000.
Rules were just about the same as original game with
following exceptions. $7,500 in completed sets, cash
ov & unused buyers cards wins. When a buyers card
is turned up from the pack it goes to the player after
the previous buyer (as before). Then 2 cards returned
up for a "lot sale." When selling a card and a 1 or
6 turns up for an "open sale" there is another die
with two X faces. If either of these turn up the
seller gets a $200 bonus.
For 2 or 3 players deal out more cards but play
to $7,500.
(I am not sure of the number of cards in the game
and the number dealt out - it doesn't seem to jive)
I suggested this change:- When a buyer's card is
turned it is bid on same as any other. Larry
liked that idea but wanted to add a second card to
make a "Lot Sale."
In a trip west Larry & Pearl stopped to see Bill Caruson. He is going
to do their game in the $8.00 size. He is very satisfied with
ACQUIRE. This year they have 3000 outlets, next year they expect 7000.
