Thursday 17 December 1964
352nd day - 14 days to come
Looked at Gimbel's. Had a lot of ACQUIRE and salesman
said it was doing well.
At Woolworth's bought HIGH GEAR GAME (Mattel) for
$1.77.
At Macy's also heard ACQUIRE was doing well. Bought
MIDWAY (A.H.)
Also saw MEMORY LANE (Center for the Gifted Child).
Set of 40 cards numbered from 1 to 40 and each
having a picture of a common object (such as
a gun, monkey, etc.). Cards are dealt out as
equally as possible to the players. Player with
card #1 plays it and mentions any object, then
card #2, and so on thru card #40. Then the
player to the left of the possessor of card #40
has the first chance to state the object con-
nected with card #1. If he misses next player has
the chance, etc. After an object is stated cor-
rectly the next player to the left starts on the
next object. If no one can state a particular ob-
ject no one gets credit for it. One point is scored
for each object correctly stated.
Also saw TURNING POINT (T.A.G.) Same as TAKE 12.
(cont. from 12/18)
Also played BIG FUNERAL with the 6 of us. I had
the high score when we quit.
From Helen got the Nov. 1964 Mensa Journal. Two ads: -
FACTS-IN-FIVE: A new word game that challenges your ability to
recall facts under time pressure. Your knowledge of science, the arts,
history, government, and many other areas can be tested from basic
to difficult levels. Scoring system differentiates between general
and specialized ability. Unlimited number of individuals or
teams can play. Primarily for adults or advanced students. Ten-
day refund guarantee. $6.50 postpaid. Advanced Ideas Co., 68
Broadway, Arlington, Massachussetts. (See 11/15) (Didn't send for it.)
Instructive, creative puzzle game develops latent talent, helps
preserve conventional middle class morality, and provides some-
thing else to do in the dark. Hours of entertainment - alone or in groups.
Send $3.50 to Facsimile, 43 Woodland Drive, Woodcliff Lake, N.J.
Not yet available to the other 98%. In later add called INSIGHT.
