Wednesday 11 November 1964
Veterans' Day 316th day - 50 days to come
At Macy's saw the 3M games.
TWIXT had new rules for a four-hand version. Partners
play together in any area of the board. The only differ-
ence is that a player at any time can say "priviledge".
The next opponent misses his turn and partner of player
saying "priviledge" plays. Each team is allowed privi-
ledge once in a game and can use if whenever they
wish. (This could be used just a well in a two-hand game)
Saw Alice & Felicia & Ruth ? the inventer of PEACHY [illegible letter crossed out in word]
a game we played 5 and then 4-handed during the evening.
A deck of 36 cards is used; 7 suits of 5 cards each
and the "peachie" card-worth 50 points. The seven suits
are "Apples", "Grapes", "Oranges", "Lemons", "Plums", "Cherries",
"Pears" and each has cards valued 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 points.
When played by 2 deal 12 cards to each & others are
not used. When played by 3 to 6 deal out all cards (ex-
cept with 5, discard 1 card).
The dealer leads to the first trick. Suit must be followed.
If don't have, can throw off anything. High card of suit
led wins trick. Winner leads to next. Only the last
trick scores. Winner of this gets all the points of
the cards in the trick.
Peachie can only be played on the last trick. If
led it wins the trick and gets an extra bonus of 100 points.
If not led it cannot win & counts 50 points to player winning
it. 350 points are game.
Played 4 hand DATA (sans Felicia). Ruth won. Ruth & Alice
liked it.
Alice told me she got a wire from Rocknowski last week
asking who is to be sent the money for Focus. They are
drawing up the contract.
Gave Alice a check for $159.26 to straighten our
accounts from 3M.
Got two copies of the "Hobby Horse" catalog (Rappaports
is the same) containing ACQUIRE & WHAT'S THAT ON MY HEAD?
Filed it in drawer [54].
Rc'd. [crossed out] Took Oct. 15 "Toys & Novelties" from Alice. Clipped a
picture of a game TEEZ (looks like 9 MEN MORRIS) and
put it in Ad Clippings.
