1964 175th day - 191 days to come
Returned the game TRAVELER'S LUCK (by H.H. McINTYRE,
4411 Huron Drive, Midland Mich) to I/S. It is
a multiple path race game played on a large map
of the U.S. ^also part of Canada & Mexico showing cities and numerous roads
connecting them, red lines representing interstate
highways & black lines representing other roads. There
is a considerable ammount of crossing of roads be-
tween cities and, since the rules permit turning
at a cross road a considerable number of cities can be
connected by one network of roads (within one move
of each other).
The starting point and destination are chosen
for each game. Players move by throw of a 12 sided
die which has the following faces:-
[drawing of 4 5-sided die faces, labeled with letters and colors]
If a player the race is in an East-West direction and
a player rolls (N/E) he must move out of town on
a road going in a north direction. He may, however
turn onto a road going in the proper direction at a
cross road. If he throws a black face he must leave
on a black road, but may turn to a red one.
With a red face can go on any colored road. A
move ends when you reach a city.
The luck card faces call for taking a luck card. There'
is only one deck - the differences in color referring to
some penalties which end with the throw of a red
luck card face, etc.
The luck cards have a variety of special happenings.
Some allow blockading a player (by placing a marker
on his token) so that he cannot move until it is re-
moved. Others allow blockading a city so that no one
can enter or pass thru it. Others remove a blockade.
A number send a player to an out of the way city
and then allow two moves per turn until the end of the
game. (Fairly complete idea.)
Brought in CARRÉ to be sent to Whitman. Decided
not to send them any further games until we hear
from them.
Looked at POTENTIAL, back from 3M, and all the
chips were [apart]. Glued them together again.
Felicia gave me the Ad Sheets for CONESTOGA &
99 put out by Washburne. (Filed in 1964 Ad Clips).
