FRIDAY 17 APRIL
1964 108th day - 258 days to come
Brought BRIDGE FOR TWO (MB). [at Klein's]
Saw SPOOF (Carol Burnett's) (M.B.)
Played with deck of cards with nos. 1 thru 40 and 2
wild cards. A tray with two compartments marked
HIGH & LOW is also provided.
2, 3, or 4 play. Two cards are dealt out first and
placed in the tray in proper high & low spaces. (If a
wild card is dealt shuffle it back into the deck.) Deal
5 cards to each player.
Players in turn draw a card from the deck and then make
a play. They attempt to play a card that is in between
the two cards in the tray. If able to do so they can place
it on either the high or low space. And as a bonus they
can discard another card from their hand. If not able
to play between they play a card either a higher on the
high side or a lower on the low side. They do not get a
bonus discard.
A wild card can be named as any number & keeps this
number.
A player who plays a card that is one number away from
the other in the tray is said to "spoof" the next player,
since no card can be played between, not even a wild card.
First player to play out all his cards gets one point for
each card remaining in his opponent's hand. If the deck
is exhausted without a win take the discards and all ex-
cept the top cards from the tray and reshuffle.
For a 2 hand game play to 11 points.
For a 3 " " " " 21 ".
For a 4 " " " " 31 ".
Saw BEETLE BAILEY [MB] a remake of THE CHECKERED GAME OF LIFE
with an army motif.
Spoke to Alice about our Tuesday meeting and our plans
for the future.
Ordered 24 patents.
In SPOOF, if the drawing deck is exhausted before a player goes out
the discard pile is reshuffled and turned face down to form a new deck.
