THURSDAY 9 APRIL
1964 100th day - 266 days to come
Prepared new pieces for THRUST.
(cont. from 4/10)
board. If a player's throw would carry him passed an
opponent's "chex" he loses his throw. More than one token
can occuppy a space. Exact throw required to reach
"finish." "Chex" once placed are never moved.
Wald showed me a new development of LINES. Use the rules
of 1/17 with following changes:-
Only one pc. is played on a turn.
A player may bridge between a pc. of his own and one of
opponent's as well as between two of his own.
An opponent's pc. can be captured as in THREE (see 1/17).
The opponent may not return a pc. to a captured space on the
next move but must wait a move (ko situation).
A pc. that is part of an enclosure may not be captured.
Claude played BIG FUNERAL with BB, Larry & Dick.
Bob, Helen, Arthur, Wald & Dana played ACQUIRE while I acted
as banker. The players who had the chances to start chains
came out ahead. I was dissatisfied with the way it worked.
Dick was speaking about a game called IMAGE that he was
working on. There is a deck of cards which give the
players various positions in life. There is a board with
various material things shown & tokens to represent
the player's possession of these things. Most players get
a salary, some have inherited wealth, and all pay
bills each turn. When a player gets that material
attributes for his position in life he gets a certain
number of points. Higher positions have more points but
are harder to reach. Rough idea.
Bob brought in some publications put out by the
"Knight of the Square Table" (NOST). They mention some
game I haven't seen. Bob will get me further info.
(NOST was advertised in the Jan-Feb 1964 issue of RMM.)
