MONDAY - JANUARY 1973
HAPPY NEW YEAR - SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD. 1ST DAY • 364 DAYS TO COME
Finished write up of INTERNATIONAL SKI TEAM RACE and
then gave some info on CRESCENDO and the Strato-Various
Price list, finishing my column. BB typed it.
Ordered THE MOSCOW PUZZLES. from Book-Of-The-Month.
(cont. from 1/2) [1/2]
just signed a contract for another 2.
Phil also brought me a copy of TUF & LUFTWAFFE which
were delivered to Simulations by mistake.
Rcd. a card from Ken Morgan. He spoke to Bob Gellman just
before going to Florida, R.G.I is being taken over by Athol
Plastics. Urban Systems is having trouble with a stock issue.
(cont. from 1/11) [1/10]
have to be allowable for the 4-hand game, and probably the 3.
We played and the players making the even number moves
had a tremendous advantage since he could put the 2nd pc, in a
pile. I suggested allowing three in a pile and we tried a
little of it. It seemed better.
CULPRET: - Played on a 6 x 5 field. Each player has 10 pcs, num-
bered from 1 to 10. These are placed on the first two rows at
each of the short ends, at random. Each player picks one of
his numbers, secretly, as the one he intends to try and
reach the far row. In a turn a pc. can move player
moves one of his pcs. orthogonally as many spaces as he
wishes, with as many turns as he wishes, as long as the
spaces are empty. Or instead a pc. can make one or a series
of short jumps over pcs. of either color. Also a player
in his turn can move any pc., except the one just moved,
regardless of the player who owns it.
Played with Claude, played O.K, but it's a lot like EVADE.
Claude didn't think Wekler would care.
I brought along THE BRAIN GAME. but Claude was too tired.
I showed Anne and him the new trays and they liked the looks.
During afternoon called Larry Blandin of the INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW. Discussed my leading a seminar. The show will pay my expenses in
Chicago and at least half of my traveling expenses.
Larry will schedule my 2-hour seminar on either 6/21 or 6/22 and
I'll come there on the evening of 6/20.
The show was oniginally started at Lake Geneva, primarily by
the IFW, but now Larry, who is a lawyer is trying to expand
the show so that eventually wan games will be an important,
but small part of the show. The show is in two parts,
an exhibit of game manufacturers, to the trade and
another part where the public will pay to get in.
