29 FRIDAY DECEMBER 1972
364TH DAY - 2 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. MIDGARD Forum #4 - which Tom Drake says completes the rules.
Rcd. card X'Mas from Larry Blandin of the INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW. He rcd. the copy of AGOG I sent him. He was responsible for Verhulst's review.
Rcd. X'Mas card from Phil Orbanes.
Call from Howard Wexler. He wanted Claude's telephone number.
I asked him if he had spoken to HASBRO about sending a letter stating that they were taking HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME. He did and I will be getting it.
Wrote to Bob Lanzon on "Peace & Love in All Seasons" card. Thanked him for reprint on me in NOSTALGIA #150. Explained why I don't have time to play games.
Earl here in the afternoon. He brought me an article from last Sunday's TIMES - "Sales Spree in Toyland." (Filed in '72 Misc.)
I called Al Richter (twice - not in first time) and Earl spoke to him about working on DON'T BLOW A FUSE. They didn't make any definite arrangements since Al is busy looking for a job and working part time. Tentative date with Al for him to come here 1/20/73.
Played INTERNATIONAL SKI TEAM RACE with Earl. Fairly pleasant. Made some changes to avoid a draw, which I'll include in my review.
After supper to Claude's with BB & Earl. Izzy and his wife Betty there. Played MANIPULATION, 6 hand with Earl sitting it out. Claude introduced the buying rule that players could buy up to 4 shares of stock in a turn, with no restrictions. Altho I complained at first, it seems the easiest solution and there is still plenty of strategy left.
Made a copy of the board: [board diagram on left side of page]
Izzy and Betty caught on well. I beat out Izzy in a very close finish. We discussed getting together, but didn't set a definite date.
Claude told me that Wexler in his call asked Claude if he'd like to test games for a fee. Claude said probably and he'll hear from Wexler about getting together. I was, and said it, a little annoyed with Wexler for using me to get Claude's number without any word to me about why he wants Claude to test and not me. Claude feels that Wexler is running scared with Strongin and Claude wants to help him out if he can.
