357TH DAY - 9 DAYS TO COME

Spoke to Howard Wexler before Arthur and Wald arrived. Told him that for Hasbro's sake and for mine I should get offiical notification that they were taking my game HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME for the $5000 payment. He'll see to it, and for Claude and the Amberstones too.
After a little while Strongin joined us for about half an hour. We'll only get 25% of any royalties if they sell our games. They will give us ideas of what companies want (but weren't too specific about how much information they will be able to get). Howard indicated that it would be in the direction of toy-games, where the model making becomes much more important - and they wouldn't be competitive with my own games - but then he backed off and said that if they had a potential customer for a strategic game they would expect us to work on it.
Arthur and Wald spoke up vociferously (but politely) against the split. I just told Howard (Strongin left after the first half hour) that if I came up with any ideas myself I of course wouldn't work thru them and other priorities would always take precedence. He agreed.
Strongin was talking about royalties being "annuities" and I said that is what ACQUIRE is for me. He didn't think that sales of 50,000 a year were much but Wald (I think) pointed that I got it all.
Strongin said that CHAOS, which he placed with Lakeside sold well over 100,000 this year. He hopes to do as well with Howard's THREE UP.
Howard said that he had made up 5 games himself, none of which Strongin thought were outstanding.
He has been looking thru AGOG for ideas. He said this when I noticed that he had it on his shelf.
Howard told us that HASBRO now is intending to come out with the series of games - BALANCE OF POWER, HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME (BLUE CHIPS), etc. in 1974.
We did not make any final decisions. Instead we'll talk it over and get back to them.
Had lunch with Wald and Arthur and talked about it. Wald will call Claude.
Met Jed Gaines outside of his office. Phil Orbanes has already left for Cleveland. I told Jed to remind Phil to send me the rules for REALM.
To Simulations, had long time with Jim Dunnigan. He was sorry that he didn't invite me to the dinner (see 12/19) but just forgot. He told me of his problems with Dale from his side, and the truth is probably somewhere in between. I asked about the possibilities of the general game magazine and he said
