20 WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 1972
355TH DAY 11 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a card from Jerry D'Arcey and wrote one to him
with a short note.
Sent cards to the Orbanes and Felicia.
Sent card and short letters to:
Frank Thibault.
Don Turnbull. Mentioned ALBION #41, ABSTRACTION, DELPHI, and THE CITIES GAME.
Michael Dummett — Mentioned THE GAME KHANHOO, REGELN DES MINCHIATTA SPIELS, and AGOG. Also Graeme Levin.
Drove downtown with BB and bought 75 "Bekins Boxes" for
$37.50 plus tax. Put 4 of them together and put the material
under the bridge table in my room in them. The size of the box is 10"x12"x15".
Felicia called. She got a call from Bob Johnson while she was out and called him back. The are sending a contract and advance for FOCUS.
They are opening up again for the submittion of "strategy games."
Told Felicia that I was really working on THE BRAIN GAME to make it a perfect as possible before submitting it.
Started thinking of making THE DOMINO BEAD GAME into a special equipment game — working title — THE TROMINO BEAD GAME with pcs. like this [image to the right]. Later figured the 3 colors would give 27 different possible arrangement - from all 1 color to 1 of each color. In making the patterns 2 of the same color could be next to each other - but no more (arbitrarily to make the patterns visible).
Doubt whether it would be a good idea to submit this since Hallmark already has TROMINO GO.
Also there is the fact that the idea came thru the Amberstones and Claude.
(cont. from 12/21) [12/22]
I won and Ritchie came in second. Ritchie and Raymond played
well but were not too much impressed.
-[started 12/22]
At the meeting this morning the Amberstones had a manuscript
of a book on the HIGH DECK PUZZLE. This is similar (I
believe to the setup of 7/10/69 except that regular cards
are used - 12 cards out of 16, the A, K, Q, J of the 4 standard
suits. Red and black form two hierarchys and the same rank
can be piled between hierarchys. Definite setups are given
(cont. on 12/17)
