21 Tuesday November 1972
Presentation of B.V. Mary - 326th Day - 40 days to come
Rcd. an 1973 Childcraft Catalog. Have one already, so discarded.
(cont. from 11/22) [11/22]
details of how the words were scored.
Took a catalog. Among others, showed BIG BOSS, COMBAT, DIPLOMACY,
WORLD SOCCER, THE GILLETTE CUP, BIG LEAGUE, CHARTBUSTER,
SUBBUTEO TABLE SOCCER, KALAHA, IMPOSSIBALL. (Discarded rest
and filed games in '72 Misc.)
Michael took bus back to Paddington Sta. BB and I to Claude Gill
book store. Bought [illegible strikeout]
BATTLE! PRACTICAL WARGAMING (by Charles Grant, who also
wrote THE WAR GAME - see 10/20). Also bought THE PAN BOOK OF CARD GAMES
thinking it was a later edition than the one I had. (Later found
it was the same, but the old one had yellowed. Put the new one in the
collection.)
I hotel was given a message from Graeme apologizing for not
meeting us today for lunch. (Discarded.)
Rcd. the copy of the NEWSDAY magazine with the article on
George Bredehorn. Also a note from Stan Chess. Among other
things has his puzzles BOXWORD and LINKWORDS. Mentions
CLUEWORD and REQUISITE.
(cont. from 11/23) [11/24]
the subject in letters of the writing columns for G & P.
Told Graeme that Michael Dummett (having been told by Michael
Wednesday) was annoyed about having sent in an article
on CHINESE CHESS and then having it ignored. Graeme
said that his understanding was that Michael would submit
articles on card games as an authority. But something
like CHINESE CHESS wouldn't automatically be accepted. Michael
also had complained about some cards that Graeme
hadn't returned. Graeme will contact Michael and clear
up their misunderstandings.
[arrows pointing up and down] [started 11/24]
Graeme brought up AGOG. He is working out a deal with a publisher
to do some of his things and they might well be interested in
including AGOG as part of the series. I told him that since he
hadn't mentioned anything about it on Monday I had reentered
negotiations with Colin Haycraft. He said I might miss the
initial items in the series by waiting. I'll let him know as soon as I can
