319th Day - 47 Days to come
Brought revised BOOK WORLD column to Eve Auchincloss.
She wasn't in, so I just left it.
To Simulations. Spoke to Jim Dunnigan. He asked me about
the sales of my games with 3M. He estimates that Simulations
does between '4 and '5 the volume of 3M.
He gave me MOVES #5. Also "Book IV which contains
reprints of S&T #16, 17 and 18.
Al Nofi had a copy of BATTLE OF ATLANTA for me but I told him
I already had one (at home checked to confirm this).
He also gave me an ad booklet for 3M games in Germany.
Includes the following: - TWIXT, ACQUIRE, BREAKTHRU, BAZAAR,
FACTS IN FIVE, TRYCE, VENTURE, MONAD, OCTRIX, REGATTA,
HOCKEY, THINKING MAN'S GOLF, and WIN, PLACE & SHOW (Put
with 3M material.)
Dale had message from BB - to call Ken Morgan ([phone number omitted for privacy]),
and Felicia probably wouldn't be at her office at 2 today.
Called Ken Morgan. His lawyer's son sent him an S.E.C notice
about R.G.I.'s stock being suspended from sale for several months.
Not [now?] is back on sale, but brokers are warned about it. Ken sent
a copy to me. Ken wrote to Urban Systems telling them that
R.G.I. was in trouble and that he could get MOVIE MOGULS back.
Then he learned that Urban Systems was one of the firms R.G.I.
(Bob Gellman that is) was considering merger with.
To Phil Orbanes. (During meeting with him called Felicia and
learned from her answering service that she wouldn't be in.)
"Gamut of Games" treated me to a sandwich and coffee.
The game of Joel's originally SPELLBOUND, then KALEIDOSCOPE, is now being
called MONTAGE. Phil told me a little about it. There is a quadrille
board. To start black spaces are put on crossword fashion, and
a number of colored squares are put on according to some
specific setup. Each color can be used for a series of letters -
(like blue could be A, B, C, D, or E; green could be F, G, H, I, or J;
etc.). Players form words using the colored squares and a
color can be changed to any of its letters in different turns
(Very rough idea.)
Phil gave me a set of rules for REALM that he wrote
up in a hurry, It has the feature game and 4 mini-games.
It doesn't include the CHAIN REACTION variation and
the one based on HNEFATAFL, which Phil will keep for use as
individual games.
He also gave me a set of playing pcs. so that I can
work on it at home.
We played a game of the feature version, which I won, and
it played quite well - tho I thought a little too short.
Took a sheet with a set of rules for NUMBER PLEASE! which
can be played using the MY WORD! equipment. Put it with
my MY WORD! set.
Made repros of the rules, which also contain a
