8 WEDNESDAY - NOVEMBER 1972
313TH DAY - 53 DAYS TO COME
Call from Felicia (very unhappy about the election) Gary Sherbell
was supposed to visit her and she didn't go to the office.
She asked me to call him but I told her I didn't have his number
handy. Later I looked it up and tried to call. No answer.
In the evening Gary called me and told me that he had dropped the
new version of TORTS - THE GAME OF LAWSUITS across the hall. I told him
I'd take a look at it next time I was at Felicia's
Rcd. a letter from an AGOG reader who was interested whether HIGH DECK is still available.
Call from Arthur. Date with Wexler at B&B Friday at 10:00, Called Claude to tell him.
Called Jack Davis and I'll drop in Friday to pick up IMAGE. I asked if
he had a copy of the latest ACQUIRE for me to use in my piece for
GAMES & PUZZLES. I'll pick one up Friday. He also had another copy of
BID AND BLUFF for me with the cardboard box instead of the tin - the
cardboard is the actual way it is being published. I decided not to take it.
(cont. from 11/11) [12/8]
[Diagram of 5 rectangular cards laid out horizontally next to 3 more laid out vertically.]
The five horizontal cards are taken first, then
the three horizontal in a vertical column.
The scoring has the following addition
(which probably was there in '70). A fifth
column to the right is used for entering the net results
of each of the other 4 columns. These are totalled. The
player with the net surplus wins this, multiplied by the
number of entries he has in the 5th column. If there
is a tie in one of the first four columns it is won by the
player with more entries in that column. If the same, the
first to win governs. The "0" is entered in the 5th column.
If that player has the higher total, the "0" counts as an
entry in determining his multiplier.
Rcd. THE GAMESLETTER #43. Don Miller is now subscription agent
for GAMES & PUZZLES.
THE BATTLE FLAG (#19) has an article on NOVA, a tactical
spacewar game by Harold Totten.
There is a commentary on CHESS game #1 of Fischer/Spassky.
Walter Dykoski called. He is upset that I gave the price of
STRATO TAC-TICS as $20 in the BOOK WORLD article. It
is $23. STRATO CHECKERS is $16. BB told him I'd try
to correct it in S & T.
Martin Gardner called. He'll call again tomorrow.
